The curtain was drawn down,
marking the end of DYUTI 2013, International Conference on Global Public Health
on 5thJan 2013. The valedictory function started at 3:30pm at the Golden
Aureole. The chief guest of the day was Dr. Beena K.V, State Programme Manager,
NRHM. The programme was honored by the presence of Dr. Antony Kariyil, Director,
Rajagiri Group of Institutes, Dr. Mary Venus Joseph, Dean and Administrator of
RCSS, Dr. Anish K.R and Dr. M.K. Joseph, Faculty, RCSS and the student
coordinator- Ms. Swapna Madonna K. and Mr. Thomas S. Dr. Mary Venus Joseph,
delivered the welcome address stating that the programme was a grant success.
After which Dr. Anish K.R, who was also the faculty coordinator of DYUTI 2013,
presented the highlights of the whole conference. Dr. Antony Kariyil in his
presidential address reminded the group of students and faculty from around the
globe of 3 important components for a healthy life. Which includes -

A balanced diet
·
Regular exercise
·
Trust in almighty
Dr. Beena K.V. also in her
address congratulated the students and faculty of RCSS for providing excellence
in learning. She spoke about giving importance to community extension
programmes in India for bringing about a healthy future in Kerala. this has been
achieved through community mobilizers like – Accredited Social health Activists
(ASHA) in Kerala. She also stressed on prevention of various communicable and
non- communicable diseases.
Dr. M.K. joseph brought out the
action plan that was formulated from the discussions at the conference, which
Rajagiri intends to apply to the community through fieldwork and community
extension programmes.
This was followed by
felicitations by Dr. Jed Metzger, Professor. Nazareth College, USA, Dr. Thomas
O’Hare, Professor, Boston College and Dr. Simon M Kang’ethe, Senior Lecturer,
University of Fort Hare. The vote of thanks was delivered by Ms. Swapna Madonna
K.
